About our cause
When Hollie Gazzard was horrifically murdered by a former partner in February 2014, her family wanted something positive to come out of their tragic loss. Hollie had experienced domestic abuse and stalking prior to being fatally stabbed at her place of work.
Hollie’s passion for life led her parents, Nick and Mandy, alongside her sister, Chloe, to form the Hollie Gazzard Trust in order to raise awareness of domestic abuse, stalking and knife crime, keep young people safe and strengthen our communities.
The Trust helps reduce domestic violence through creating and delivering programmes on domestic abuse and promoting healthy relationships to schools and colleges.
We also have our accredited training programme, Working Without Fear, which supports businesses and organisations in creating robust Domestic Abuse Policies.
We also campaign on issues such as coercive control, stalking and knife crime. We work closely with other charities and Police Forces around the country in raising awareness of all the issues that affected Hollie, and which sadly touch so many other lives.
In 2015 the Trust launched Hollie Guard, our free app which transforms your smartphone into an advanced personal safety device. Hollie Guard, now downloaded by over 260,000 people is suitable for us all to use.
With Hollie Guard, if ever you feel threatened, you can send out an alert by either shaking or tapping your phone. Once you activate an alert, your location along with video and audio evidence is automatically sent to your emergency contacts.
In addition to Hollie Guard, we offer a 24-hour monitored service (7 days a week) for those who need an additional level of security; Hollie Guard Extra.
There is a small charge to cover the costs of providing this service, but we are working hard to raise funds so that those most in need will have access to this service at no cost.
While Hollie’s family are still devastated by her untimely death, and unable to change the events of that fateful day, they hope that the funds raised through The Trust will help others find a better future and reach their potential.
